Banana Bark Premium Basket

Crafted from Banana leaf and a hint of the sisal plant, these beautiful baskets are handmade to give a unique shift to any living space in the home whether next to your sofa storing pillows or throws, in your reception hosting a plant or even in your bedroom/bathroom as a laundry bin. The look and feel of the basket is very premium and has an expensive feel which sets itself apart from the usual trend.

The Banana bark basketry is particularly eco-friendly: it uses banana leaves that would be otherwise burnt after the harvesting season in the Northern parts of South Africa or Eastern parts of Africa.

In the process of making these baskets, weavers will select appropriate banana leaves according to length and quality. These leaves will then be cut and cleaned manually and then dried and soaked in order to be soft and flexible to help manipulate in the weaving process. The weaving process can take anywhere between 5 days through to 10 days depending on the size and time available for each craftsman/woman.
